SmartAFP for Composite Manufacturing

Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) is a composite manufacturing process through which non-metallic fibres (e.g. carbon fibre) are laid onto tooling mandrels/moulds by application of heat and pressure.

As part of the SmartAFP program, which is a InnovateUK funded project, we are developing a generalised infrastructure and process management tool that will generalise across AFP machines of different makes and reduce the need for bespoke handling. This will help scale the AFP digitisation process and make it easily accessible to a wider customer base.

Remote Monitoring for Industrial Chillers

Airedale, Adesto Technologies

Airedale is the UK’s leading manufacturer of industrial air conditioners. They are also a worldwide distributor of cooling, heating and HVAC systems. They have over 50,000+ live installations of chillers and 250+ live installations of larger systems (e.g. data centres, building management systems, smart buildings, etc.).

As a trusted partner, we are working with Airedale to digitise their product lines. We are also looking at connecting their assets across globally distributed customer sites, improving operational efficiencies through AI enabled services such as predictive maintenance, intelligent monitoring and remote surveillance.

Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC)

The MTC were creating IIoT testbeds to showcase I4.0 technologies. They selected MAIO as one of the technology providers.

We worked with the MTC to get requirements and information on their target system (controller type, protocols, tags, data capture rates). We also carried out integration at the MTC, connecting the gateway to their controller and to their MAIO cloud deployment.

Smart Robotics for Retail

InnovateUK

The Smart Robotics for Retail demonstrator is part of an InnovateUK funded project exploring the use of advanced technologies like robotics and AI for retail applications. 

We are using our MAIO platform to create a proof-of-concept fulfilment centre demonstrating how pairing readily available, off the shelf systems (robotics, vision) with the connectivity and AI capabilities of MAIO can produce flexible and cost effective solutions for real world problems in the retail world.
